先日リリースされ、スチームパンクの新たな表現世界を築いた楽曲「hanaichimonme」に続く、DracoVirgoの新曲「阿弥陀の糸」が完成した。前作とは異なる、スケール感とスリルを味わえる仕上がりになっている。
　極楽浄土において、現生での森羅万象すべてを司り、そして救済するとされる仏＝阿弥陀をモチーフに描かれた内容。阿弥陀がもたらす運命の糸に、身を委ねるべきか、もしくは運命に抗って修羅の道へ進むべきか？複雑に絡み合う心境を描いている内容。それを彩るバンド・サウンドは、スチームパンク独特のフィーチャリスティックとレトロが織り混ざった世界をベースにしながらも、重厚感とスリルがあるものに。もがき苦しみながらも、ひたすら前に疾走していくような印象を与える。ヴォーカルに関しても、どこかに光を求めて彷徨う表情を感じさせながらも、阿弥陀のような視点で人生の選択に迷う人々の姿を包み込むような視線で見つめている様子も感じとられる、不思議で圧倒的なオーラを放っているのだ。
　人生の決断に迫られた瞬間、どの道を選ぶべきか？悩むことが多い。それが決して定められた運命とは異なる選択になるのかもしれないが、ひたすら前を突き進んでいけばいい。そんなメッセージを感じ取れるはずの１曲になっていると思う。
　また、「hanaichimonme」と同様に、ニューヨーク在住のエンジニアによるリミックス「阿弥陀の糸 – Bri-Bri-Boo MIX -」も完成。よりシンセサイザーの音を前面に打ち出し、フィーチャリスティック感を強めた仕上がりになっている。
　これら２曲からは、スチームパンクの世界に運命を委ねながらも、そこから新たな表現手段を得ようと格闘し続ける、DracoVirgoの真摯でストイックな姿勢を感じ取ることができるはずだ。

DracoVirgo has completed a new song named “Amida’s Strings”. Following the previous release “hanaichimonme”, this new song continues to expand the expressive world of “Steam Punk”. It guarantees you can enjoy DracoVirgo with different sense of thrill, even in larger scale.

The motif of this song is Buddha = Amida (Amitabha) who controls the whole creations in real life and serves all salvation in paradise.
Should I leave my fate to Amida’s strings hung down from the paradise or should I go to the path of fight against destiny? The song sings a complex and conflicting interwoven mind. The band sound rooted in the mixture of steam punk’s unique futuristic yet retro feel, builds solid density and chilly thrill.
While struggling with suffering, DracoVirgo is rushing to keep moving on and on. As if seeking a light herself, the vocal makes us wonder if she is wandering off the path herself; however, at the same time, she shows a vision like of Amida’s, watching people from the paradise with compassion, people who are lost in life, people who are trying to figure out the life. The vocal shines with mystic, overwhelming aura.

We often face critical moments when you are forced to make decision of your life, “Which way should I go?”. Your choice may be different from, and going apart from the destiny of the life. But you just have to go forward. This is the song, I believe, you get such a message.

A remix by a NY-based engineer, “Amida’s Strings – Bri-Bri-Boo MIX -“, is here as well. He remixed the previous release “hanaichimonme”. The sound of synthesizer is laid out in front, which enhances the futuristic feel.

These two songs show DracoVirgo’s sincere and stoic attitude, who keeps challenging to explore the new ways of expression, while accepting their destiny to dig deeper the world of Steam Punk.

「夢と現実」「陰と陽」、相反する世界をミックスさせた「スチームパンク」なサウンドを独自の感性で追求し、スリリングなパラレル・ワールドを展開する、DracoVirgo。完成した新曲「hanaichimonme」は、「スチームパンク」な世界をさらに追求した仕上がりになっている。
　「スチームパンク」とは、1980年代から登場したサイエンス・フィクションのジャンルのひとつ。蒸気機関が広く使われていた産業革命期のレトロな雰囲気を醸し出しながらも、フィーチャリスティックなイメージを融合させたもの。ファッションや文学など、あらゆるカルチャーでその世界観を表現したものがあり、音楽においても、クラシックや、グラム・ロック、パンク、ヒップホップ、エレクトロなど、さまざまな音楽要素を網羅しながらも、独特の甘美な魅力を放っていて、現在では国内外で熱狂的なリスナーが多い。
　「hanaichimonme」は、日本人ならば誰もが口ずさめる子ども同士の「駆け引き」をテーマにした童謡をモチーフにしたもの。心の琴線に触れるノスタルジックな部分と、重厚感と切れ味の鋭さのあるバンド・サウンド、「駆け引き」の多い現代社会に対する思いを感じる歌詞、そして聴く者に光をもたらしてくれるしなやかさと強さを併せ持ったカリスマティックなヴォーカルが渾然一体となって、圧倒的な「蒸気」を放つ仕上がりになっている。すでにステージでも披露されていて、その口ずさみやすさと、刺激に満ちた音に、多くの観客が身体を揺らしていて、今後のライヴ・アンセムになっていきそうな１曲だ。

DracoVirgo pursues “Steampunk” sound with unique sensibilities. The band creates the thrilling parallel world by expressing the mixing conflicting worlds like “dream and reality”, “yin and yang”. The new song “hanaichimonme” which they have just completed goes further to explore the world of “Steampunk”.

“Steampunk” is one of the sub-genres of science fiction that appeared in the 1980’s. It is a fusion of futuristic images and a retro atmosphere of the industrial revolution. The steam engine is often used as the symbol of the era. It expresses its own worldview in every culture, such as fashion and literature. In music, it covers a variety of musical elements from the classical music to glam rock, punk, hip-hop, electro and so on. With its bewitching charms, it has always attracted a large number of enthusiastic listeners worldwide.

Originally, “Hanaichimonme” is a Japanese traditional children’s game where two teams play “trading” in between them. The accompanying song that children sing while they are playing actually gives them the instructions and the cues how to play. Any Japanese of any generation can sing this song and play this game. DracoVirgo’s “hanaichimonme” uses the original song as a motif. Integrated with the nostalgic feel that the original song evokes in our hearts, the lyric throwing an insight and feelings toward the today’s society, and the band’s heavy but sharp sounds, their supple, fierce, charismatic vocal brings a lay of light to the listeners. The song ends with the steam of overwhelming strength and tenderness. The song has already been performed live on the stage. It rocks. With the familiar melody line and the band’s exhilarating sound, this song is certainly going to be an anthem at the shows.

Also, a remix “hanaichimonme – Bri-Bri-Boo MIX -” is delivered from New York. Addition of the horn sounds and other extra elements make you enjoy the world of even more dramatic “steampunk” on a larger scale.

In “hanaichimonme”, you feel a stoic attitude of DracoVirgo who is constantly challenging to build and express the new way of viewing the world by layering various sounds and concepts. Their force is steaming out. The energy underlying here may relieve the sense of isolation floating in the world today. Furthermore, it is surely in their music, which is capable of creating a new world.
